Where? Healey’s Cyder Farm, nr Truro
Ready yourself for a proper end-of-season party, with live bands, a silent disco, camping and a lot of cider. Social, slightly chaotic, and unpretentious, the Little Orchard Cider and Music Festival is a true Cornish celebration of September blessings, with its homage to quality local cider and first-class music in the beautiful setting of Healey’s Cyder Farm. As well as the Rattler Olympics, Mount Hawke skate ramp and Wild Stone Spa, this year’s much-loved names include The Wonder Stuff and Elvana.

Where? Venues across Looe
Looe’s fishing scene is eclipsed by party vibes for the mighty Looe Weekender, when bands take over the harbourside, dance workshops spill onto the quay, and the whole town leans into merriment and music. Get ready for three days of free live music, movement workshops and salt-air sessions before autumn sets in.

Where? Jubilee Pool, Penzance
Slip into the warm, mineral-rich waters of the Jubilee Pool and let the sound take over while you float, weightless, under the September sky. Bring a neoprene vest to stay warm through the stillness, and pool noodles are on hand if you want them. Book ahead for the Sound Bath at Jubilee Pool – mornings like this don’t stay quiet for long.

Where? Penlee Gardens, Penzance
Run by the same crew behind Falmouth’s foodie extravaganza in spring, the Penzance Food Festival brings natural wine, street food, live music and chef talent to the leafy Penlee Park. Expect a chilled-out, creative vibe just five minutes from the prom.

Where? Crantock Village
Roll up for a true Cornish community event as families and friends gather to roll giant hay bales around the streets of Crantock. Why? In the name of competition and good ol’ fashioned fun to raise essential funds for local charities. This September’s event is the 26th annual Crantock Bale Push, supporting Man Down Cornwall, Crantock Surf Life Saving Club and other local groups. Join in or come for the music, beer and good times.

Where? St Ives
Once the summer holiday crowds ease in St Ives, it’s the perfect time of year to hop on the scenic railway to lap up the best of the famous seaside town’s art and culture. Cue a fortnight-long celebration of music, poetry, theatre, and visual arts in venues across the town. The St Ives September Festival shows off with open studio tours, intimate folk gigs, guided walks, exhibitions, workshops and more.

Where? Pentillie Castle & Estate, Saltash
Grab a rug, pack the picnic, and settle in on the lawn as the Tamar Valley turns into a theatre. Illyria bring Gilbert and Sullivan’s swashbuckling classic, The Pirates of Penzance, to Pentillie’s grounds, with the castle as backdrop and the river light fading behind the pirates on stage. Gates open at 5.30pm, so there’s time to wander the gardens before curtain up.
