There’s an unmistakable shift in the air: days are lighter and brighter, gardens, clifftops and rockpools are bursting into life, and festival season is stirring.
April is that sweet spot – fewer crowds, fresh energy, and plenty going on. Here’s our pick of the best things to do this month – the must-dos, insider style.
When? 24 – 26 April 2026
Where? Porthleven

Muster your appetite for one of Cornwall’s biggest foodie celebrations. From chef demos and street food to all-day entertainment and live music nights, the Porthleven Food Festival is a feast for all ages. Mosey down for a harbourside bite and sensory delights, or book early for one of the popular ticketed events — including a Naughty Nonnas supper club on 24 April.
When? 24 April – 3 May 2026
Where? Roseland Peninsula
Dip in to ten days of music, food, art and adventure across one of Cornwall’s most beautiful corners. The Roseland Festival blends everything from jazz nights and acoustic sessions, to wildlife walks, river cruises and long-table suppers. It’s community-led, slightly under-the-radar, and all the better for it — a chance to explore the peninsula at its most vibrant.
When? 3 – 12 April
Where? Tehidy Woods, North Cornwall
Step into the wonders of spring with Rogue Theatre’s Wild Awake show in Tehidy Woods. Follow the Wild Hare through bluebell-lined paths as stories, music and mythical characters unfold around you. It’s part theatre, part adventure — and perfect for families over Easter.
When? 24 – 25 April
Where? Healey’s Cyder Farm, Truro
Grown-ups only for the Rattler Fest – one of the most rambunctious events kicking off Cornwall’s festival season. With the Dub Pistols, D:Ream and Jam & Meme on the main stage, plus Ski Lodge Sessions, The Rattler Olympics and a Silent Disco in the orchard, brace yourself for dancing, drinking and a full-throttle weekend in the Cornish countryside.
When? 31 March – 1 November 2026
Where? Cornwall Museum & Art Gallery, Truro
Step into Cornwall’s storytelling past at the Cornwall Museum & Art Gallery. In the magical Cornwall Myths & Legends exhibition, ancient tales are brought to life through art, objects and immersive displays — with an accompanying events programme, a dressing up box, and plenty for kids to explore too.
When? Saturday 25 April
Where? Camborne
Not got Camborne on your list of must-gos? Trevithick Day is the time for it, with steam engines, street performances, live music and a festival atmosphere across the town. This proper Cornish celebration of engineering, heritage and community deserves a spot in your calendar for a lick of local culture this April.
When? Sunday 6 April 2026
Where? The Castle, Bude

The much‑loved one‑day Bude Food Festival celebrates local foodie culture in the dramatic setting of the town’s castle grounds. Artisan stalls spill out across the lawn with cheeses, fresh bakes, sweet treats and more — and plenty of local tipples (gin, cider, beer) to wash it all down. It’s a brilliant excuse to explore Bude’s beaches, shops and nearby coastal walks either side of your feast.
When? 14 & 18 April 2026
Where? Kaloura’s, Wadebridge
Fancy a more intimate dining experience? Take a seat at the chef’s table at Kaloura’s, where you can watch each dish come together from your seat around the oak table. Expect seasonal, local ingredients served in a relaxed, sociable atmosphere. It’s BYO with pairing suggestions available – and a handy wine shop next door.
When? Saturday 11 April 2026
Where? Watergate Bay
Families and their four-legged friends come together on Watergate Bay for a beach day with a dog show, agility sessions, food stalls and kids’ activities. In support of the RSPCA, Paws on the Beach is a free, feel-good event for sandy paw shakers, salty sea dogs and their humans alike – with prizes, rosettes and plenty of wag-worthy fun for all ages.
When? Sunday 12 April 2026
Where? Perranporth
Not for the faint-hearted. The 15-mile KvK trail run packs in 1000m of ascent across coast paths and hills — with a buzzing community atmosphere to match. There’s also a relay option if you’d rather share the challenge.
When? From 4 April
Where? Porthtowan Beach
Sauna, sea, repeat. Book a communal or private session at this brand-new beach sauna just steps from the shoreline at Porthtowan. Pair it with a coldwater dip if you’re feeling brave – and a post-sauna thirst quencher at the Blue Bar. Simple, social and seriously good for the soul.
When? 3 – 19 April
Where? National Maritime Museum Cornwall

As well as its castles, beaches and buzzing creative scene, our favourite all-weather family attraction in Falmouth is the National Maritime Museum Cornwall. A brilliant option for families, this Easter you can get hands-on with Viking-themed activities, join in craft workshops, play on Skull Island, and step into 100 years of surfing in Cornwall at the ongoing Surf! exhibition.
When? 3 – 19 April 2026
Where? Eden Project
Celebrate Easter with a giant egg hunt at the Eden Project. Embark on a dragon-egg hunt through the gardens, become a dragon conservationist for a day, and join in immersive Easter adventures and games designed to help you explore – and learn to care for – the natural environment.
Where? Carbis Bay, St Ives

Time for a spring reset? Perched just above Carbis Bay, Una St Ives offers a laid-back coastal base with a hint of luxury. Think modern villas, spa facilities, a heated lido, and easy access to golden beaches and the vibrant heart of St Ives. Perfect for a family getaway or a couple’s retreat, it’s designed for unwinding with a touch of indulgence.
Salt-kissed and ever-evolving, Newquay has firmly stepped into its own as one of Cornwall’s coolest coastal spots. Spring is a great time to visit – with quieter line-ups, long days, and just enough warmth to tempt you into the water. Fistral (above) is UK’s surfing capital and a great spot to hit the waves, while off the sand you’ll find great food, coastal walks and a more laidback pace than during the peak summer rush.
