About this Beach

Great Molunan and Little Molunan are a pair of secluded sandy coves nestled along the picturesque Roseland Peninsula in Cornwall. These hidden gems offer a tranquil escape from the busier tourist spots, with crystal-clear waters lapping against golden shores. The beaches are backed by low green cliffs, providing a sheltered suntrap perfect for relaxing. At low tide, the two coves join together, revealing a larger expanse of sand ideal for beachcombing or building sandcastles.

The beaches boast excellent swimming conditions when calm, though there’s no lifeguard cover so caution is advised. Rockpooling is a popular activity, with the craggy outcrops teeming with marine life at low tide. A notable feature is the large cave at Little Molunan, which adventurous visitors can explore. While facilities are limited with no toilets or cafes on-site, this adds to the unspoiled charm of the location. Dogs are welcome year-round, making it a great spot for a scenic coastal walk with your four-legged friend.

Access requires a bit of effort, involving a walk along the coastal path from nearby St Anthony Head or St Mawes, but the reward is well worth it. Once there, visitors are treated to breathtaking views across the water to Pendennis Castle and Falmouth beyond. The relative seclusion means you’ll often have large stretches of sand to yourself, especially outside peak summer months. Whether you’re seeking a peaceful sunbathing spot, a refreshing swim, or simply a place to soak in Cornwall’s natural beauty, Great Molunan and Little Molunan beaches offer an idyllic seaside retreat.
