About this business

Trewithen Gardens is a real Cornish gem, tucked away in lush, historic parkland just outside Truro—a place where tranquil walks, bursts of brilliant colour, and the sheer thrill of discovering rare plants all come together. Here, you’ll find yourself wandering 30 acres of beautifully kept woodland, following winding paths beneath towering ‘Champion Trees’ and through glades peppered with camellias, magnolias, rhododendrons, and exotic ferns. It’s a garden that earned its stripes not only as a Michelin three-star wonder but also as an internationally recognised ‘Garden of Excellence’, thanks to its camellia collection. Spring is the showstopper, but there’s serenity and surprise at every turn, from the longest private lawn in Cornwall to hidden walled gardens and South Lawn views. For plant lovers and curious explorers alike, there’s a superb nursery selling unusual shrubs and trees—often grown right here from seeds brought back by intrepid plant hunters.

Beyond the blooms, Trewithen’s Georgian house is a real charmer, still lived in by the same family after some 300 years, and open for guided tours in summer. There’s a Tea Shed with local cream teas, lunches, and the perfect spot to watch birds and wildlife—a lovely way to round off your visit. Whether you’re a serious gardener, a couple seeking a romantic stroll, or a family craving a gentle day out in nature, Trewithen delivers. It’s a place for pausing, admiring, and being thoroughly enchanted by Cornwall’s softer, secret side.
