About this Beach

Trevone Bay is a beautiful west-facing arc of golden sand nestled just two miles from Padstow on Cornwall’s glorious north coast. Sheltered by low cliffs on either side and backed by a small, friendly village, it holds Blue Flag status and is rightly regarded as one of the finest family beaches in the region. The beach is well served by facilities, with toilets, a surf hire shop, and the popular Trevone Beach Café and Stores right beside the car park, offering everything from morning coffees and breakfast baps to post-surf sundowners. For those wanting more, the celebrated restaurants, cafés and harbour of Padstow are just a short drive away.

Trevone is a beach with plenty to keep everyone happy. The gently shelving sands are ideal for paddling and swimming, with RNLI lifeguards on patrol throughout the summer months, while those with an eye for waves will find the bay capable of producing excellent surf on a good Atlantic swell. Just around the headland lies Rocky Beach, also known as Newtrain Bay, where vast slabs of rock give way to wonderful pools and one of Cornwall’s largest tidal swimming pools, said locally to be known as Tinker Bunny’s Bathing Pool. A short stroll along the South West Coast Path brings you to Round Hole, an extraordinary 80-foot blowhole formed by a collapsed sea cave and a reminder of the raw power of the Atlantic at work on this ancient coastline.

Dogs are welcome at Trevone outside the summer season, from October through to mid-May, and the coastal walks in either direction make it a rewarding destination all year round. The South West Coast Path leads south to Harlyn Bay and on to Constantine Bay, or north towards Stepper Point and the Camel Estuary, with breathtaking views at every turn. As the sun dips towards the horizon, the beach takes on a golden warmth that makes it one of the most magical spots in North Cornwall to simply sit and watch the world go by.

“Trevone is a great base for Cornish adventures. There are rock pools to explore and a large sea pool for cold water dips, and the dramatic Round Hole is just a short walk along the coast path. It’s also a magical place to sit and admire the waves or the sunset, followed by food and drinks at the beach café, which puts on regular music events.” Hayley Lawrence
