About this Beach

Pendower Beach is a picturesque sandy stretch located on Cornwall’s Roseland Peninsula. At low tide, it joins with neighbouring Carne Beach to create a vast golden expanse nearly a mile long. The beach offers something for everyone, with a sandier eastern side perfect for families and a rockier western end ideal for exploring tidal pools teeming with marine life. Its position along the Cornish Way Cycle Route and South West Coast Path makes it a popular stop for walkers and cyclists seeking breathtaking views across Gerrans Bay to Nare Point.

The beach is dog-friendly year-round, allowing four-legged friends to roam freely. While there’s no lifeguard cover, the south-facing aspect creates favourable conditions for swimming on calm days. Visitors will find seasonal toilets at the rear of the beach, though they close at dusk. The surrounding area offers numerous coastal walks with sweeping vistas, making Pendower an excellent base for outdoor enthusiasts. At low tide, the expansive sands provide ample space for beach games, sandcastle building, and leisurely strolls along the shoreline.

Pendower truly shines during low tide when the beach opens up, revealing its full beauty. The quieter back section of the beach is perfect for those seeking a more secluded spot and offers fascinating rock pools to explore. During high tide, especially spring tides combined with larger waves, visitors should exercise caution as the beach can become quite dangerous. Despite its beauty, Pendower remains relatively uncrowded, allowing visitors to soak in the tranquil coastal atmosphere and enjoy the unspoilt natural surroundings of this gem on the Cornish coast.
