About this business

Kennack Sands Beach is a beautiful sandy beach nestled on the eastern side of the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall. This popular family-friendly destination features two distinct beaches separated by a rocky outcrop called the Caerverracks. The main beach to the west offers golden sands and inviting waters, while the eastern section retains visible WWII defences including pill boxes and an anti-tank wall. Backed by rolling dunes and a nature reserve teeming with unique flora and fauna, Kennack Sands provides a picturesque setting for a day by the sea.

The beach is well-suited for swimming, especially on calm days, though there’s no lifeguard cover. Surfers flock here when conditions are right, with the gentle waves in summer making it an ideal spot for beginners to learn. At low tide, rock pools emerge, offering endless fascination for children exploring marine life. The expansive sands are perfect for beach games, sandcastle building, or simply relaxing in the sun. Dogs are welcome from October to Easter, but a seasonal ban is in place during peak summer months.

Facilities at Kennack Sands include a car park, toilets, and a seasonal beach café serving refreshments and light meals. The South West Coast Path runs along the clifftops, providing spectacular walks in both directions. Whether you’re seeking a tranquil spot to unwind, a family-friendly beach day, or an active coastal adventure, Kennack Sands Beach offers something for everyone. Its relative seclusion compared to some of Cornwall’s busier beaches adds to its appeal, allowing visitors to enjoy its natural beauty in a more peaceful setting.
