Blue Reef Aquarium in Newquay is a brilliant way to dive into the wonders of the underwater world without needing a wetsuit. Situated right on Towan Beach, a stone’s throw from the famous island, this attraction is all about bringing the sea (and then some) to life in over 40 themed displays. You’ll start with a gentle dip into local Cornish waters, getting up close with rays, lobsters, starfish, and all sorts of local critters, then hop to tropical rivers—keep an eye out for freshwater turtles and a rather cool caiman. The real showstopper is the giant ocean tank with a walk-through tunnel, where you can have an eye-to-fin encounter with brightly coloured reef fish, some cheeky reef sharks, and even rescued loggerhead turtles like Omiros gliding gracefully overhead. Their colossal Southern Stingray is always a crowd-pleaser too.
