Padstow

Padstow Guide

Harbour-hugged Padstow has transformed itself into one of Cornwall’s most celebrated culinary destinations – but there’s more to this north coast gem than what’s on the plate. Beyond Stein’s and Ainsworth’s empires, and the artisan delis that spill along cobbled streets, Padstow boasts boat trips, beaches, big-view coastal romps and boutiques made for browsing.

From bustling May Day ‘Obby ‘Oss celebrations to tranquil winter estuary walks, Padstow offers a Kernow-style feast with something for everyone.

Unmissable Padstow

Padstow Beaches

Long before gastronomes came to town, it was the beaches that people flocked to Padstow for – and for good reason. Sheltered by the Camel Estuary, Padstow boasts golden sands and calm waters perfect for families, while nearby Trevone and Harlyn ramp up the energy with consistent surf rolling in from the Atlantic. From building sandcastles at Harbour Cove and exploring rock pools at low tide, to catching waves at Harlyn Bay, beach life around Padstow is, quite simply, some of the most varied in Britain.

From taking boat trips across the estuary to cycling the Camel Trail and discovering the National Lobster Hatchery, there’s something for everyone in one of Cornwall’s most captivating coastal towns.

Food & Drink in Padstow

From Paul Ainsworth’s Michelin-starred No. 6 and Stein’s flagship Seafood Restaurant, to more laidback (but no less gourmet) Prawn on the Lawn and Burgers and Fish  — much of what hits your plate comes straight from the land and sea in view. And there are plenty of spots that serve local, effortlessly good grub without the fanfare and fancy price tag. Grab fish and chips to eat on the harbour wall, linger over coffee and just-baked cakes, or settle into a pub for pizza and a pint – all with a side of sea views.
