At Cool Cornwall we’re brimming with ways to get under the skin of our beloved sea-lashed county. So, besides the megastar attractions such as the Eden Project, Kynance Cove and St Ives, here’s our more off-beat suggestions of seven things to do during a week in Cornwall this Easter holidays.
While the crowds make a beeline for Lands End, escape the other-worldly landscapes of the Lizard Peninsula and stand on the most southerly point of the UK mainland. Much like standing at the ends of the earth, here you can witness the curve of the horizon, spot ships and sea life, and even hear the foghorn of the Lizard Lighthouse. In fact, the Lizard Peninsula is one of our top spots to visit in spring, so why not check out our local’s guide to this wild, spellbinding destination?

Originally invented by the Finns as communal spaces for getting together, relaxing and cleansing in harsh Nordic winters, saunas have popped up on shorelines all over Cornwall. And offering bucketfuls of health benefits – especially when teamed with a dip in the bracing ocean – what better way to boost your wellbeing on the beach this Easter? Take your pick of dreamy locations for hot and cold therapy from our rundown of Cornwall’s saunas by the sea.

The beach cafés get busy in the holidays, so why not slink off into the verdant scenery of the Helford Estuary and break for brunch on a riverside ramble? The rustic foodie retreat of Slice, serves breakfast all day long, from charred banana bread and coffee, to Huevos Rancheros on their own stone-baked sour baya bread. And this is just one of the best brunch spots in Cornwall.

Feeling brave? Bare all at the secluded, naturist cove of Vault Beach. Tucked between Gorran Haven and Dodman Point, a 20-minute walk from the nearest car park, it keeps the crowds at bay, making it the perfect place to plunge into the cobalt ocean. It’s not the only nudist spot listed in our Best Beaches for All, but if you prefer to cover up, you can pick one of our other favourite Wild Swimming Spots in Cornwall.

There’s no need to wrench your toes from the sand when your tummy starts rumbling. Whether you fancy a fresh crab sandwich at a secret venue on the North Coast, or street food beside the surf, fill yourself to the gills at these hidden beach cafés in Cornwall.

The South West Coast Path is one of the UK’s most popular trails for a springtime stroll. Deservedly so for the eye-popping views from cliffs smattered in a rainbow of wild gorse, thrifts, squill and sea campions. What with spring breaking earlier in Cornwall than anywhere else in the UK, there are lots of trails where you can witness the carpets of wildflowers that light up the Cornish landscape. Walk this way for our favourite wildflower walks in Cornwall.

Sip a cocktail with a view to the mesmerising sunset from a serene, Secret Garden in the heart of Newquay. The buzzing surfing capital of the UK is home to lots of hidden spots and things to do if you know where you look. Why not discover our top 26 things to do in Newquay – you might be surprised how easy it is to relax and get away from it all in this party town.
